A cultural initiative: Agira Heritage

Agira Heritage is an initiative born from the desire to give new life to the city’s places of faith and art.

Promoted by a group of enthusiasts and researchers, in collaboration with the Parishes of Upper Agira, it was created as a shared project of knowledge, preservation, and cultural enhancement.

A project connecting memory and the future

The aim is to make the main churches and architectural heritage of the upper part of Agira accessible and engaging, offering visiting routes, guided experiences, and cultural initiatives that bring together history, spirituality, and community.

Visiting these sacred places becomes an opportunity to understand the true value of faith as a deep-rooted element of local identity.

Looking ahead

The project envisions gradual expansion, with the intention of involving additional churches and historic spaces. Its long-term goal is to establish Agira as a reference point for cultural and religious tourism in the heart of Sicily.

An example of an active community

This initiative represents a model of collaboration between citizens, volunteers, and local institutions. Every visit and every ticket sold directly contributes to the maintenance and conservation of the sites involved, turning participation into a tangible act of care for shared heritage.

Visits and heritage enhancement

Every admission ticket contributes to the maintenance and protection of these sites, made accessible through the shared efforts of the local community. Visiting the churches of Agira means taking part in a collective act of preservation and cultural enhancement.
